                            HISTORY
Plantains are a staple food in the tropical regions of the world, treated
in much the same way as potatoes. They have a similar neutral flavor
and texture when the unripe fruit is cooked by steaming, boiling or frying.
Plantains are grown as far north as Florida, in the Caribbean, Central and
South American countries like Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil,
the Canary Islands, Madeira, Egypt, Nigeria, Japan, Taiwan and
KwaZulu-Natal.

The plantain is a fig and a cousin of the banana.
SEE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantain  In the Caribbean and elsewhere, breakfast, lunch or dinner, or all three meals, is not
complete if it does not include plantain in some form. Plantains
are also cooked and consumed in a green state, in various
stages of ripeness and can be sliced as in plantain chips or
“tostones”, grated, powdered or pounded into a paste as in
porridge, before it is consumed. The most popular form, by
far, is Fried Ripe Plantain Slices.

Fried plantains are a traditional treat in many parts of the world. In
the Caribbean, sliced ripe plantains are more like a delicacy. The
Maroons* in Jamaica treated fried ripe plantains like caviar and
their descendants still do.

maternal grandmother, a descendant of the Maroons, an
indigenous and almost extinct ethnic group of Jamaica, who
originated in West Africa, fried slices of carefully-selected
ripe plantains in coconut oil which she called “dodo”.
 http://www.nalis.gov.tt/Communities/MaroonsofJamaica.htm
She then seasoned it with a secret blend of black pepper,
ginger, garlic, Jamaican allspice (pimento), wrapped it in
brown paper and let it ferment for weeks in the cupboard.

The result was a finger-licking, delicious, natural treat
that family members and visitors would
come to sample with great delight.

                                   MISSION
We, have just started a small home-based business company
called Pitter Patter Enterprises, Inc..(PPE) and its subsidiary,
CARIBBEAN-STYLE CONFECTIONERY, etc. that seeks to
produce and market small packets of vacuum-sealed, fried ripe
plantain slices as a snack.

                              FEASIBILITY STUDY
We, at PPE conducted a feasability study to determine the
availability, the marketability and the profitability of this
product in the local store, bodega, deli or restaurant. We
started with the availability of ripe plantains.

                 Availability

The Availability Of Ripe Plantains is hereby tested
and confirmed.

Plantains are easily available in Brooklyn, New York at the
Brooklyn Terminal Market where local grocers and restaurants
buy their weekly supplies in bulk. Plantains are available in
green or ripe states, in boxes of 50-60 units per box
(depending on the size of each plantain).

The price of green and ripe plantains varies from week to week,
depending on availability and  fluctuations in the market. The
fluctiations vary from $2 - $5, up or down, from week to week.

Marketability (Continued)
The marketability of (3.6 oz) packets of
vacuum-sealed, fried ripe plantain
slices, as a snack called Caribbean-
Style Fried Ripe Plantain Slices
is demonstrated.

We came up with a product that we started producing
at home. We test-marketed the item, in the Flatbush
section of Brooklyn, New York last Fall (2007) and the
past Spring (2008). The results were, not surprisingly,
very favorable.

Last Spring, we produced and distributed 760 packets
of Caribbean Style Fried Ripe Plantain Slices over a 5
week period and successfully sold  620 packets.
760 = 629      760 x = 62000      x = 6200

   x = 82.76 = 83+%

  100 x 760

Over 83% of the packets of Caribbean-Style Ripe
Plantain slices that were distributed to vendors
such as Korean/American grocers, Caribbean/
American restaurants and bodegas in Flatbush
section of Brooklyn, New York. They were
distributed directly to the places of business by
our staff at $2 apiece, and were sold  to the shopper
 for $3 each.

The 17 % of the packets, that was not sold, was
returned to us by the vendors, because the labels
on those packets were damaged. The  labels had
gotten wet from condensation, in the showcases or
refrigerators, and could not be read by the customer
because of the  smudging of the ink-jet labels.
This could have been avoided if the labels were
printed by a laser printer instead of an ink-jet printer.

We have had to suspend production and distribution
because the smudging of the labels could not be
tolerated. We had to discard the thousands of labels
already printed. A laser printer is necessary to print
labels that are water-resistant and smudge-proof. We
had to go back to the drawing board to redo the
labeling and set up a website meanwhile to better
promote the product and incorporate it with other
business interests. Availability of funds to proceed
has dictated that PPE seek outside funding.

We are about ready to install the "shopping cart"
on the website so that we can process credit cards
like Visa, Mastercard, Amex,etc..we are also just
about to begin soliciting ads from the big boys like
Pepsi, American Airlines, Air Jamaica, Golden
Crust, etc.,etc...can begin charging for services,
accepting donations, etc..

We, at PPE, are open to partnership proposals.
We are in need of start-up capital, loans, investments,
donations, gifts, etc... and we reserve the right to be
cautious and selective. This should not deter you from
becoming involved.

Caribbean-Style Fried Ripe Plantain Slices is a
finger-licking, delicious, natural treat, lightly fried
in vegetable oil and seasoned with secret formula
of Caribbean Style Maroon Seasoning (black pepper,
ginger, garlic, Jamaican allspice (pimento).

Caribbean-Style Fried Ripe Plantain Slices can be
sold to local vendors as well as gourmet outlets in
the New York Metropolitan area.

Caribbean-Style Fried Ripe Plantain Slices can be
enjoyed as an appetizer or as an ice-cream or
cocktail companion. Eat as is, or heat gently in
microwave.

Plastic fork included in packet in separate compartment

We, at PPE, know that there is a demand for fried
plantains especially in Caribbean/Central and South
American immigrant communities in which  plantains
are  consumed in a variety of forms and in enormous
amounts.

Feasibility and demographic studies, done here at
PPE, indicate and confirm that fried ripe plantains
are a staple in the diets of Caribbean, Central
American, South American, African and Asian
communities and, by far, and is the most favorite
form consumed by this demographic....as opposed
to boiled or baked plantains.

Competition. Research conducted at
PPE indicates that there is only one company
engaged in the production and marketing of Fried
Ripe Plantains and that is Goya.

However; they market a different style of ripe
plantain. The features that distinguishes
Caribbean-Style Confectionery,
Etc.'s Fried Ripe Plantain Slices are:
   a. he seasoning (Maroon Seasoning)
    b. fermentation
    c. packaging
   d. imagination

We, at Caribbean Style Confectionery,
Etc. believe that Caribbean-Style Fried Ripe
Plantain Slices . have captured the original Maroon*
flavor. We feel that we have little or no competition and
that our product is unique. We are certain that we have
a marketable product because we have tested the market
and have favorable results. Furthermore; we have lined up
distributors who specialize in Caribbean and South
American products in the New York Tri-State vicinity.

Each vacuum-sealed packet of Caribbean-Style Fried
Plantain Slices can be deep frozen or refrigerated and
is microwave-friendly.

     6 packets, 3.6 ozs each in 4in x 5 in x 6in box

We also bring you a version that is MILD......with only a
touch of Caribbean-Style Maroon Seasoning.

We came up with a product that I started producing at
home and started marketing, but had to go back to the
drawing board to redo the labeling and set up a website
meanwhile to better promote the product  and incorporate
it with other business interests.
